Model Test Study on Stability Factors of Expansive Soil Slopes with Different Initial Slope Ratios under Freeze-Thaw Conditions

چکیده
Expansive soil is widely distributed in seasonally frozen areas worldwide. Due to the special expansion and shrinkage characteristics of expansive related water content, there are potential engineering disasters subgrade slope engineering. To investigate physical mechanical changes within slope, four freeze-thaw cycles tests were performed on models an environmental chamber with ratios 1:1.5, 1:1 1:0.5. Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) technology used explain pore during freezing thawing. Model carried out monitor cracks, moisture temperature, displacement pressure model. The results show increase ratio may give rise more intense temperature changes, promote development cracks model, gradient migration rate Following cycling, structure destroyed reassembled, decreases as increases. Combined model NMR test results, can maintain a stable state after multiple freezing–thawing under specific content ωs.

Adsorption of arsenic on soil under different soil moisture conditions
The adsorption study was conducted on three Japanese soils with different soil properties to characterize the adsorption pattern of Arsenic (As). Double tube method was used to find out the effect of soil moisture levels on As adsorption. For this study, besides double tube method, conventional batch method also was used. The As adsorption showed two phase kinetics. An initial and rapid adsorpt...

متن کاملTest Study on Strength and Permeability Properties of Lime-Fly Ash Loess under Freeze-Thaw Cycles
In order to study the application of lime-fly ash loess in permafrost subgrade engineering, uniaxial compressive test, fast direct shearing test and permeability tests were carried out on lime-fly ash loess under different curing ages and freeze-thaw cycles. Uniaxial compressive strength of lime-fly ash loess increases slowly with the curing ages, and can reach 3.5 Mpa after the curing ages of ...

This study presents an experimental X-ray micro-CT study of the freeze-thaw processes in limestone under controlled ambient conditions. The processes weres studied with time-lapse micro-CT and dynamic micro-CT, using the Environmental X-ray CT (EMCT) at the Centre for X-ray Tomography of the Ghent University (www.ugct.ugent.be). The EMCT is a gantry-based system on which full μCT scans were aqu...
متن کاملThe Effect of Freeze-Thaw Conditions on Arctic Soil Bacterial Communities
Climate change is already altering the landscape at high latitudes. Permafrost is thawing, the growing season is starting earlier, and, as a result, certain regions in the Arctic may be subjected to an increased incidence of freeze-thaw events. The potential release of carbon and nutrients from soil microbial cells that have been lysed by freeze-thaw transitions could have significant impacts o...
